Betty Jean Rundell Jean was born to Laura V. and A.L. Nanney, M.D. in rural Burnet County on July 29, 1928. She was escorted by angels to her heavenly home July 9, 2010 after a brief illness. After graduating from Austin High School she became an active member of Phi Mu Sorority while attending the University of Texas. She had a career in Government service working with the IRS and the U.S. Army 8th Corp before moving into the private sector. In 1960, she married Allen Rundell, a businessman in Austin. They traveled the world extensively. She stayed active in the Pan-Hellenic system at UT and was the President and Board Member for the YWCA for a number of years. She took great pride in being a business partner with her sons in many endeavors in Central Texas. Jean is survived by her brother Dr. Caroll Nanney, her sons Charles T. Norris and Dale Rundell, a daughter Kerith Rundell, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Tammy and by her husband Allen Rundell. Her funeral will be at Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N Lamar, on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception and visitation following the service. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Shriner's Hospital Burn Center for Children, 815 Market St. Galveston, TX 77550-2725.
