Funeral services for Jimmie Garrison, 87, of Lufkin, was held at 10 a.m today, January 31, 2002 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Hershel Bearden officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.
Mr. Garrison was born April 15, 1914 in Lufkin, the son of Mattie (Milam) and Homer Garrison, Sr. He passed away, Tuesday, January 29, 2002 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Garrison worked at Humble Oil and Refinery in Baytown (now known as Exxon) for 29 years. He served Area Supervisor for a number of years and was the Chief of Plant Security for the last 10 years. Mr. Garrison resided in Baytown for 50 years. He served as a member of the Baytown City Council and was a Special Texas Ranger. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Garrison had attended Lon Morris College and Texas A&M University. In 1989, he moved back to Lufkin, where he was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Garrison of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, James C., Jr., and Roseanne Garrison of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Nan and Don Scroggins of Pearl River, La.; brother Pitser Garrison of Lufkin; grandsons, James C. Garrison, III.; Clay Garrison, Jay Scroggins and wife Becky Scroggins; great-grandson, Bryce Scroggins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers were Clint Garrison, Clay Garrison, Jay Scroggins, Bill Hutson, Bobby Friday, Pete Netardus and Bill West.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Directors of Lufkin, 936-634-4411.
